Our first collaboration with the Potato Head Group was a night of knowledge with Tomas Estes at the Potato Head Garage  The Garage, the latest addition of the Potato Head Group, is an establishment where great, honest food meets curated cultural programs all housed under a transformed abandoned stadium.

Tomas Estes is a restaurateur and the king of tequila. Born in California and gaining vast influence from Mexico, he is a central figure in the tequila industry, having tremendous impact on tequila trade. His love for tequila is also present through bars and restaurants world wide that he helped opened.

The night, sponsored by the Don Julio brand commenced at Potato head Garage, a location known for its lavish, extravagant atmosphere, and over the top décor attracting famous personalities and high flyers.

We were sat down on a lengthy dining table consisting of around 40 people, with a five-course meal awaiting. Each dish, created by Potato Head’s Chef, was carefully selected to compliment each cocktail experience along with it.

Tomas conducted a personal tasting with Don Julio  tequila cocktails and stories from his best selling book The Tequila Ambassador. With more than 30 years experience he provided us with a treat for the pallet and feast for the senses. The food was of course, Potato Head standards, remarkable. The drinks, carefully constructed by Potato Head’s mixologist, also seemed divine.

Potato Head Garage has created a unique pairing menu to compliment Don Julio tequila, influenced by some of Garage’s menu favorites. Fish crudo paired with marmalade margarita followed by pumpkin soup and the ambassador, blue swimmer crab cake and watermelon margarita, and finally wood fire beef grilled paired with Tommy’s margarita.

As there is always room for desserts, guests savored tres leches paired with café pacifico and mignardises paired with Don Julio añejo tequila.

The event was lucky enough to be embraced by the presence of the Mexican Ambassador, Her Excellency Mrs. Melba Pria, along with famous Indonesian celebrities including Dian Sastro and Wulan Guritno.

From each of the Don Julio cocktail purchased during a promo week, Rp. 10,000 will be donated to the Omar Niode Foundation. As promised in the invitation, the evening was an exquisite culinary journey.
