One of the places most visited at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2016 was the Gourmet Gallery, a meeting and exhibition space for works by print and electronic publishers, authors, chefs, producers, journalists, tourism agencies, photographers and food stylists from around the world.

The Gourmet Gallery

The Gourmet Gallery, located in Hall 3.1, occupies an area of 1000 square meters with 80 exhibitors from 20 countries who carry1000 titles. Various events organized include cooking demonstrations, tastings, book readings, business meetings, food talks and presentations by culinary experts.

This year, Gourmet Gallery, collaboration between the Frankfurt Book Fair and the Gourmand International, launched the Gourmet Authors Center, an area for international food writers. According to Edouard Cointreau, the Founder and President of the Gourmand International, there are some things that make a trend in culinary books. Journalists and travelers look for "unknown destinations" or culinary destinations that are not yet popular. Besides, books that contain in-depth research on an area are also favored, in addition to unique packaging, such as books in a decorative tin, or giant-sized books.

Omar Niode Foundation, a nonprofit institution that published “Trailing the Taste of Gorontalo,” a collection of writings and a series of portraits of culinary and cultural travel in Gorontalo province, received a special invitation to perform at Gourmet Authors Center. Last May the book was awarded Best in the World - Gourmand World Cook Book Award 2015 for the Asian Cuisine from Asian Books category.

The participation of Omar Niode Foundation at the Frankfurt Book Fair was made possible due to the support of Rachmat Gobel, an Indonesian businessman of Gorontalo descent, as well as the APRIL Group, one of the world’s prominent largest pulp and paper products.

Trailing the Taste of Gorontalo was exhibited at the Gourmet Gallery Hall. 3.1 Stand L135 during the 2016 Frankfurt Book Fair. Amanda Niode, the Chair of Omar Niode Foundation, who in Frankfurt was accompanied by Dian Anggraini, the Program Manager of Omar Niode Foundation, also gave a presentation on the Culinary and Culture of Gorontalo.

The trip to the Frankfurt Book Fair 2016 received various positive results with a follow-up that can be implemented to further enhance the popularity of traditional Indonesian cuisine in general and Gorontalo food in particular at national and international levels.
