This post is the second part of the remarks on Patali (Market) Day by Yusni Emilia Harahap, Special Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture on the status of agriculture and food in Indonesia.
-------------------------------------------
As a mega biodiversity country Indonesia is rich in agriculture and food commodities. As mentioned earlier in Part 1 of this post, , a presidential policy was issued to encourage reducing rice consumption by developing diverse, nutritious and balanced food pattern.
The tables below identified the local food diversity in Indonesian provinces and selected regencies and cities.
The challenges faced in benefitting from this large selection are by no means simple, For example, infrastructure needs to be strengthened up to the production center.
However, support of all parties concerned in agricultural development, can increase our food security.
