In most cases in Indonesia, it takes quite a long chain of distribution process (four to five selling points) for vegetables to get from the farm to the consumers. Farmers sell their produce for a low price to make it to the hands of consumers with a reasonable price. Hence the use of pesticides and preservatives became a normal practice to make the vegetables physically more attractive and can endure long days of distribution process.
Therefore, for the more health-conscious group of consumers, finding chemical-free vegetables in the megapolitan city of Jakarta can be a bit tricky. You may find them in high-end supermarkets in exchange for a higher price – easily double your expense.

Green Initiative Foundation
Green Initiative Foundation (GIF) have several different-sized basket options depending on your household or business needs. GIF delivers weekly on Wednesdays, and offers a monthly invoicing scheme so you don’t need to be home when the delivery arrives. You can also get the products from their store at Utan Kayu.

Besides delivering from their own farm, sayurbox.com accommodates a delivery service for their partner local farmers to be able to connect directly to consumers. The vegetables are harvested and delivered within 48-hours and customers will know exactly which farms the food come from. Keranjang Sayur beleives in healthy eating. It has a delivery service for organic vegetables, fruits, free range chicken, meat, seafood, spices and other food supplies that are sourced directly from the their farm at Cisarua, Bogor and other food producers.
